Then when children have learned the song, they can substitute those words for other “ch” words. This is a story on video or PowerPoint and video about a spider who wanted his own song. He listened to all the other mini beasts singing and desperately wanted his own song . The idea is to "hook" the children into making their own songs. There is a teacher's guide showing what learning objectives might be encountered. After the story, there is a follow up song using all the creature's individual songs from the story. e.g. high/low/fast/slow/voice expression etc. The story can also be used in Assembly/PHSE as an in road to "finding your voice" it would be a good starter for writing too. This simple song encourages the children to put on their super hero boots, magic cloak, and glasses for x -ray vision before they curl up exhausted after a days super heroism! Use props or simply mime the actions in the short musical interluded after each verse or use simple instruments to imitate the action.E.g When the skeleton appears , add some bones (tappers/claves)

The song is about the changes a child faces from birth to the first day at school. We used it to introduce the topic "Myself" and then the children brought in photos of themselves as babies

A finished picture is shown and then a picture which is incomplete. The children have to say what is missing and create a completed one. I say that they were photocopied incorrectly and I need their help to make completed pictures. The first one introduces the idea of audience. From then on the pictures depict various scenes from the Nativity and they are treated in a similar vein . Good for discussion and creative impulses.

This is a useful little video that I have edited. It's from 'It&'s a bugs life ' The ants collect food and later celebrate . The video explores each aspect, the lifting, throwing, carrying, marching ,flying etc. I&';m using it for movement, but you could use it for Harvest festival, literacy , poetry etc . We are using it in our mini beasts topic. Children can make props for their foraging. We drew fruit and cut it out. We staggered under the weight and deposited the 'fruit' on our 'mountain '

A bundle of resources about Spring including 3 videos, an original song , a nursery rhyme and a plant growing in slow motion with original music to stimulate movement. There is also a snippet of history. These are all inserted into a PowerPoint for ease of presentation.

A simple technique for making up a song using the names of the fruit in the book 'Handa's surprise' It looks attractive too. You could scan them into a powerpoint so all the children can sing or play each others work. This will work with fruit or animals in the topic whether or not you are doing 'Handa&'s surprise'
